UEFA Champions League odds — No surprise at the top

Franck Ribery and Bayern Munich have dominated Champions League play so far.

The LVH SuperBook has posted its updated odds for the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League, and the favorite comes as no surprise to any soccer fan or bettor who’s been paying attention over the last two seasons. German side Bayern Munich is 5-to-2 to retain its trophy, ahead of second choice Real Madrid, at 9-to-2.

Bayern has yet to drop a game in Bundesliga play this year, sitting atop of the table with a 7-2-0 record. It is the only team in the league that has not been beaten and appears on track to finish at the top in Germany again.

Meanwhile, in the Champions League, Bayern has racked up three wins in three games, including over Manchester City. The combined margin of victory for Bayern over that span is 11-1 –which ties the highest goal differential in the tournament’s group stage with Paris Saint-Germain. Bayern defeated FC Viktoria Plzen 5-0 in Wednesday action.

Madrid second, Barcelona third

La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona (4-to-1) check in next. Madrid’s performance has been nearly as dominant as Bayern’s in Champions League play this season, as they have outscored opponents, 12-2, and yesterday picked up a solid 2-1 home win over Italian side Juventus. Madrid also boasts the tournament’s leading goal scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who added two goals Wednesday to bring his total to seven.

Barcelona is also at the top of their group, but only has two wins and a draw, rather than the same pristine 3-0-0 record like their rivals. Barcelona however, remains a top the table in La Liga while Madrid is third.

England represented

The Premier League’s representatives are among the next teams on the LVH oddsboard. Chelsea is fourth choice at 12-to-1, tied with PSG.

The two Manchesters, City and United are both at 15-to-1 after victories in Wednesday’s action. Arsenal checks in at 20-to-1.
