Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira remains upbeat after surgery on his injured knee but knows that he faces a lengthy period of rehabilitation.
The 26-year-old was forced to go under the knife after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for Germany against Italy on Friday night.
The Stuttgart-born midfielder faces a lengthy period out of the game and may well miss the remainder of the La Liga season and possibly next summer’s World Cup.
The former VfB Stuttgart ace will now have to work extremely hard to regain fitness for the Brazil showpiece and, despite issuing an upbeat message about his knee, admits he will be in the treatment room for the long haul.
“Everything went well, I feel good and now we just need patience,” he told SWR. “But all is well.”
