PETALING JAYA: As the MotoGP riders hit the tarmac for their first test at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) on Tuesday, the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix organisers are offering discounted ticket prices for the event in October.

During the three-day MotoGP test starting on Tuesday, SIC will be offering tickets for the grand prix that will be held from Oct 24-26 from as low as RM40.

“This is a special incentive for fans to get their tickets early as we expect another sellout event in October,” said SIC chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali.

Last year, 84,250 fans turned up for the race – an increase from 77,000 in 2012. The organisers even sold out all main grandstand tickets and had to open up several hillstands last year.

From Tuesday until Thursday, tickets for the North main grandstand will be on offer at RM150, while the South grandstand will be at RM110.

Seats at the K1 grandstand are priced at RM70 while the F1 grandstand, which provides excellent view of Turns Five, Six, Seven and Eight, will be sold at RM50.

The C2 Hillstand ticket will be on offer for RM40. Tickets can only be purchased at SIC.

Meanwhile, Razlan said MotoGP fans can witness the start of the new season for free from the main grandstand as the riders undergo testing at the track.

“There has been no track activity for MotoGP riders since the last race in Valencia last year and many have been waiting anxiously for the first test of the new season,” said Razlan.

SIC will also host the second pre-season test from Feb 26-28.

Tests for Moto2 and Moto3 will be held in Valencia on Monday.
