Reports in Italy are suggesting that Serie A clubs could soon see a substantial increase in broadcasting revenues with Sky Italia considering vastly improved offer during negotiations of the next set of television rights, if they are allowed exclusivity.
With no one yet to attempt the purchase of football rights in their entirety Sky are aiming to propose that from the 2015-16 season they alone offer various television packages to the market until the summer of 2018.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting the Serie A members have already met to discuss a way forward for the league with a dedicated Serie A channel deemed unviable due to the financial resources required for operation.
The current deal Sky Italia have to broadcast matches ends at the end of the 2014-15 season began in 2012 cost the broadcaster €561 million, however, they are thought to be willing to offer well in excess of this figure to get the deal they want.
