When Walter Mazzarri’s Inter team thrased newly promoted Sassuolo 7-0 at the Stadio Mapei in Reggio Emilia at lunch time on Sunday the club was celebrating its 2700th Serie A match.
With the Nerazzurri the only Italian club to have never been relegated from the top flight they become first club to achieve the feat.
As one of the biggest sides in the history of Italian football Tuttomercatoweb were quick to highlight the success of their unbroken run in Serie A, so far registering 1338 wins, 757 draws and only 604 defeats.
Inter have conceded 2793 during that time, but also scored an amazing 4539 goals, with club legend Giuseppe Meazza netting a record 195 times.
The clubs first match in Serie A came nearly 84 years ago on October 6 1929 with Inter coming from behind to defeat Livorno 2-1 with goals from Enrico Rivolta and Meazza.
