Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin secured his 200th Serie A victory on Tuesday night but praised Fabio Liverani for the way his Genoa side made the Zebrette work for their late triumph.
The 57-year-old admits it was good to see his side bounce back from the 2-1 defeat suffered to Chievo last Saturday as the club look to secure 40 points and Serie A survival as quickly as possible.
“It is a major success and was achieved with merit against a team that has put us in difficulty by closing all spaces,” Guidolin told Tuttomercatoweb.
“I saw a beautiful team’s reaction to the match on Saturday. There was a consistency between positions and competitive intensity.
“These signals are important and I am satisfied with the performance.
“This is my Udinese, the provincial team that tries to get the most out of using the weapons available. With [Antonio] Di Natale, you know, it all becomes easier.
“Why did Luis Muriel not start? The Colombian is capable of extraordinary acceleration, we know, but struggles to play two games in three days.
“The goal for this season remains 40 points.”
