5 Reasons Why Galatasaray Should Not Be Overlooked

5 Reasons Why Galatasaray Will Win

Galatasaray is one of 16 teams that remain in the UEFA Champions League, which will resume later this month. However, on paper, they are seen as a weak link.

When it comes to the likes of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City, everyone knows that they are capable of winning big games, leagues and tournaments. In fact, they have all recently proven that they have what it takes. The expectations and pressure are there, but since they have done it before, some of that is released.

The Turkish champions are the very best on paper when it comes to competition in Turkey, but on the European stage, getting past the quarterfinals in the most prestigious competition has been a problem for this team. This year, they will look to change that.

In this season’s Round of 16, Galatasaray will be facing the 2012 UCL champions, Chelsea. This is a team that is being led once again by Jose Mourinho, who just led his team to a historic 1-0 victory at the Etihad, shutting down the very best attack in English soccer this season. If he can manage that, shouldn’t facing a Turkish side that is susceptible to better attacks and defenses be a cake walk?

It’s hard to say, as every single game and opponent is different. Chelsea has the tendency to take it easy against lesser teams who they are expected to demolish with ease. Therefore, when they visit the Ali Sami Yen in the first leg, they will be in for an awakening as a Galatasaray side ready for the challenge awaits them.

Read on to find out why the Turkish champions can win the UEFA Champions League this season.
