Kris Meeke is still sure he is in the running for a World Rally Championship seat next season despite missing out on a drive for this weekend’s Rally GB.
Meeke admitted that his crash on his Citroen outing in Australia in September ended his chances of getting another shot for his home rally.
“At the end of the day I was in Australia to score points for a manufacturer and I failed to do that,” Meeke told AUTOSPORT.
“You can’t expect to be rewarded if you didn’t do what was asked of you.
“I can’t be angry with anybody except for myself about this situation, but at the same time there were a hell of a lot of positives that did come out of me doing that rally.”
Though Meeke would not be drawn on his 2014 options, he is understood to have talked to teams other than Citroen.
“I would like to think I was on a few radars for next year,” he said.
“Nothing’s sorted – there’s still a lot of talking to do.”
