Sebastien Loeb only did four WRC events this year as he turned his attentions to circuit racing and to racing in the World Touring Car Championship in 2014. However, he continued to show his pace on his appearances in the WRC, winning in Monte Carlo, finishing second in Sweden and then returning to take the spoils in Argentina, despite sitting out the events in Mexico and Portugal.
His swansong event in France, however, was no fairytale ending, and he crashed out on the final day, while battling for the lead. A rather inauspicious conclusion to his WRC career – although clearly it doesn’t detract from his many achievements, including nine WRC drivers’ titles and 78 overall wins.
Loeb also enjoyed success elsewhere in 2013 and notably shattered the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record in the summer in his Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak to be crowned the new ‘King of the Peak’.
