Jari-Matti Latvala’s main high in 2013 came when he won the Acropolis Rally of Greece, ‘The Rally of the Gods’ in June.
The Finn claimed a number of other podiums, however, his first in Mexico, when he was third, something he matched in Portugal, Argentina, Sardinia and France. Indeed he concluded the 2013 season strongly with three podiums in succession, following up his P3 in Alsace, with second places in Spain and Wales.
Despite those successes though, it took him time to adapt to the Polo R WRC, and he was never really a match for team-mate and new WRC champion, Sebastien Ogier.
He also made a number of errors, and had events to forget in Monte Carlo (crashed into the barriers in SS14), Mexico (hit a rock in SS3), Finland (hit a rock in SS2) and Germany (ran into a woodpile in SS12 while leading).
As a result, you gave him an average mark of 5.049 out of ten, placing him eighth in your top-ten. So do you think that score is about right or is it a bit harsh? Share your opinions simply by clicking on the ‘Post your comments’ link below.
Also, don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see who has been ranked in seventh place.
