Sergio Ramos and Adriano Correia were among the star names taking part in the UNICEF Champions for Life match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Inspired by the NBA All-Star charity exhibition match, a team representing the Eastern region of Spain took on one representing the West in a match to raise funds for children affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

And it was the East who came out on top 8-6, with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Valencia’s Helder Postiga among those on the scoresheet.

More than 40,000 people attended the match in Madrid, which was played in three 30-minute periods.

Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines in November, killing at least 6,195 people and leaving an estimated 11 million people homeless.
