Prandelli denies making Serie A request

Senin, 09 Desember 2013

Cesare Prandelli, Italy national team boss insists that he’s never asked for an early end to the season despite rumours suggesting otherwise.

Some reports have claimed that the 56-year-old had wanted Italy’s top league to make adjustments to fixture dates and possibly end the campaign sooner so he could have extra time to train for the in June, though he denies this.

Prandelli recently took time to clear up the rumours and stated that his actual intentions were to just have certain players undergo some tests ahead of next year’s tournament.

“We’ve never asked the Serie A to end the championship sooner,” said the tactician. “Or even change some of the dates. It never even entered my head.

“I’m sorry that this has caused controversy that is not there, it should not exist.

“The only thing I have asked is to have, one month before the finals, at least 30 players for a series of physical exams.

“I’m talking about a day, a day and a half where they would not even touch a football.”
