A stunning start to the season for the Saints has all but dissipated, with the side having won just three of their last 12 matches in all competitions, while they most recently let a two-goal lead slip against Sunderland, instead having to settle for a draw.
Those on-field struggles mirror those off it, with Nicola Cortese’s resigning from his role as chief executive, which then led to reports that manager Mauricio Pochettino could also depart.
And although the boss decided to stay on, unrest again reared its head in midweek when Dani Osvaldo was suspended by the club following a training-ground altercation with Jose Fonte.
The Premier League side are, however, expected to have no troubles this weekend as they face a Yeovil side who have managed just one win from their last eight Championship outings, coming in their most recent game, against Birmingham.
That run has left Gary Johnson’s men second from bottom in the standings and four points from safety, while they have only won twice on the road this whole season.
In team news, besides Osvaldo’s suspension, the Saints will also be without Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramirez, who both recently suffered ligament injuries, while Victor Wanyama remains out until February.
The visitors, meanwhile, have Ishmael Miller back in their ranks, having recently re-signed the Nottingham Forest striker on loan, and he should come straight into the team to partner James Hatyer up front, with the forward having bagged both goals in last weekend’s win.
